Our History
1992
The journey of Natura begins under the name Nutrisoya. The team kicks off operations with the production of pasteurized organic tofu in Saint-Hyacinthe, where soybean farming thrives.
1993
The founder, observing a rising trend abroad for alternative dairy-milk beverages, decides to embrace the challenge of introducing this trend to Quebec and the rest of Canada. Thus, the iconic Natura soy beverage line was born. Today, it’s evident that this challenge was brilliantly met, making Natura the first Canadian non-dairy beverage company. .
2000 to 2010
Natura’s journey remains marked by innovation. In 2001, Natura introduces snack-sized formats of soy beverages, expanding their offerings to cater to diverse tastes.
At Natura, diversity is a strength! New products are added to the already well-established range. Attentive to customer needs, the company is committed to making more alternatives available to support people with different dietary restrictions, intolerances and allergies.
Therefore, in 2004, Natura introduces gluten-free organic rice beverages, which remain available in their original and vanilla flavours to this day.
A few years later, the range of individual soy-based mini formats is expanded with new flavours, offering an even wider choice.
2011
Always driven by the desire to make alternatives to cow’s milk accessible to all, Natura continues to seduce with the launch of a whole range of almond beverages. With six different flavors to choose from, variety is the order of the day!
Now available with a new barista-approved recipe, Natura’s selection of almond drinks is better than ever! Light, low in calories and enriched with all the elements needed for a balanced diet, they’re perfect for drinking, foaming and cooking. Natura almond beverages have been making their way into Canadian homes for over a decade now.
2014
Nutrisoya is changing its name to Natura Foods, in recognition of its wide range of products. This change represents the growth, well beyond soy, that the company has experienced in recent years.
2020 to 2024
True to its pioneering spirit, Natura confirms its position as industry leader by becoming, in 2020, the first Canadian producer of certified organic and gluten-free oat beverages! From the outset, the range offers three flavours: Original, Vanilla and Chocolate. The distinction of the range lies mainly in its ingredients, creating a flawless formula. The meticulously selected oats come from the Canadian Prairies and undergo rigorous processing to ensure the purity of organic, gluten-free oats. This same level of care extends to every subsequent stage, from transportation, to processing, to packaging.
In 2024, oats are still the trend, and Natura has plenty of ideas to satisfy consumers! Two new product lines cater to very different needs.
The Oat Barista Premium beverage is a promising choice for fans of coffee and tea. Its rich, creamy Barista Premium formula guarantees a dense, delicious foam when added to the milk frother or under the steam frother. Equivalent to 3.25% milk, Barista Premium can also be used in cooking. Its richness will enhance any sauce, soup or dessert you create!
Oat Simple is a remarkably light drink that will delight minimalist consumers. Its organic, gluten-free formula contains just 3 simple ingredients. Its texture reminiscent of 1% milk and its neutral, slightly sweet taste make Oat Simple an ideal drink for starting or continuing a shift towards plant-based alternatives. Whether you want to consume it as is, incorporate it into your recipes or froth it up for your coffee, the choice is simple: Oat Simple!
